Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the estimated due date?

The EDD is an estimate. Only about 4% of babies are born on their exact due date. Most births occur within two weeks before or after. An early ultrasound provides the most accurate gestational age and due date confirmation.

What is gestational age versus fetal age?

Gestational age (GA) is counted from the first day of your last menstrual period and is used by healthcare providers. Fetal age (conception age) is approximately 2 weeks less than gestational age.

Can I use this calculator if I had IVF?

For IVF pregnancies, due date is calculated from the egg retrieval date plus 266 days (for fresh transfers) or from the embryo transfer date plus 263 days (for 3-day transfers) or 261 days (for 5-day blastocyst transfers). Consult your fertility clinic for the precise method.
